Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: November 2026
Maltau.com earns money in two ways: affiliate commissions and paid partnerships. This page explains both and how we label them.
Affiliate links
An affiliate link is a tracked URL. If you click one and make a booking or purchase, the seller pays us a commission. The price you pay is the same as going direct – the commission comes out of the seller's margin, not your pocket.
At the time of writing our affiliate partners are:
- GetYourGuide – tours, tickets and activities
- Booking.com – hotels and apartments, including links from some of our hotel maps
- Discover Cars – car hire comparison
- Welcome Pickups – airport transfers
- Airalo – eSIM data plans
- Click&Boat – boat rental
Affiliate links carry the rel="sponsored" attribute.
Paid partnerships and sponsored features
Some pages and placements are paid: a business pays for a guide, a feature or a mention of its own service. We label them clearly as advertising: a paid guide carries a visible "Advertisement feature" notice naming the partner at the top of the page and on its card, a paid mention inside a guide is marked where it appears, and links to the partner carry rel="sponsored".
A partner may be asked to check the facts about its own service, but we decide what is published. Businesses that want to work with us can start on our advertise page.
How this affects our editorial content
Paid content is always marked as such – we do not present it as independent editorial content.
Legal compliance
This disclosure is written to meet:
- EU Directive 2005/29/EC on unfair commercial practices, including its rule that paid promotion in editorial content must be made clear
- FTC guidelines (US Federal Trade Commission) on endorsements and testimonials
- Google's guidance on qualifying outbound links – affiliate and sponsored links on this site use
rel="sponsored"
Affiliate links are also covered in our Privacy Policy and in our Terms & Conditions.
